The Brushstrokes of Time: Beautiful China Through Children's Eyes – Children's Art Initiative & Thematic Painting Exhibition

How do children see the world around them? What do they notice, cherish, and imagine for the future?

The Brushstrokes of Time – Beautiful China Through Children's Eyes invites us to explore these questions through the perspectives of young artists from across China. Through their paintings, children reflect on nature, cultural heritage, local identity, peace, and sustainable development, offering fresh and thoughtful perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping our shared future.

The exhibition is divided into three interconnected chapters – Nature’s Imprints, Rural Memories, and Future Habitats – which together form a journey through observation, memory, and imagination.

The artworks featured were created by 120 children aged 6 to 15 from different regions of China. Through their paintbrushes, these young artists share with the public their views on ecological protection, natural and cultural heritage, community life, and the future they hope to build.

Their works express curiosity, creativity, care, and heartfelt hopes for the world around them. They celebrate the beauty of nature, honor the traditions and memories rooted in local communities, advocate for green lifestyles, and envision more sustainable and peaceful ways of living together.

We invite you to explore the natural world, cultural heritage, and future aspirations as seen through children's hearts.

This exhibition is hosted by UNESCO, co-hosted with China Green Carbon Foundation and Beijing CICC Charity Foundation, and organized by Beijing 798 Culture and Technology Co., Ltd.

Through their paintbrushes, children capture the beauty and diversity of our planet's ecosystems – the glaciers, forests, rivers, wildlife, and the changing landscapes around them.

Homeland Memories

With their paintbrushes, children depict the landscapes, villages, festivals, and living traditions that shape the sense of home and belonging.

In these works, natural scenery and cultural heritage shine together, conveying the enduring roots of the land and its culture – handed down from one generation to the next.

This is the cultural foundation of a Beautiful China.

Future Habitats

With their paintbrushes, children envision a long-termvision of sustainable development: treehouses that generate electricity, neighborhoods where people and animals coexist, and oceans that remain forever blue.

In these works, natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and vibrant dailylife shine together, expressing children’s aspirations for a future where people, culture and nature thrive in harmony.

This is the shared vision of a Beautiful China.
